This role will set the analytical direction for assigned portfolios, lead the development of risk assessment and stress-testing capabilities, and provide technical oversight and development for a junior analyst. The individual will be expected to move beyond summarizing portfolio and sector information by independently evaluating underlying assumptions, connecting risks across sectors and asset classes, and identifying implications for The Hartford’s investment portfolio and risk profile. - Lead the development and enhancement of risk assessment frameworks to identify key risk drivers, deteriorating trends, concentrations, and downside risks and translate findings into actionable conclusions.
- Drive enhancements to the measurement, aggregation, and monitoring of portfolio exposures, with a focus on identifying risks and portfolio implications that may not be apparent through individual sector analysis.
- Lead the development of stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate tail risk, collateral sensitivity, asset performance, concentrations, and correlated risks across the portfolio.
- Lead market surveillance and thematic risk analysis, translating market, sector, and portfolio developments into forward-looking risk insights.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and automation to enhance risk identification, surveillance, analytical capabilities, and early-warning indicators.
- Partner with investment teams and business partners to provide independent risk perspectives, assess key assumptions, and identify areas requiring deeper analysis or heightened monitoring.
- Advise senior leaders on investment risk implications arising from market events, portfolio developments, and ad-hoc analyses, providing clear, timely conclusions and recommendations.
- Drive scalable surveillance, reporting, and analytical capabilities that improve the quality, consistency, efficiency, and transparency of risk insights.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and support the development of a junior analyst, ensuring the quality and accuracy of risk analysis and deliverables and providing guidance on the interpretation of results.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in investment risk, market risk, credit risk, or a related analytical role; portfolio management or rating agency experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, or automation preferred.
