Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California.
Minimum of 5+ years of litigation experience, with demonstrated success managing complex caseloads, preferably Workers Compensation defense.
Minimum of 3+ years of direct leadership required.
Demonstrated proficiency with enterprise‑approved AI tools and legal technology to support analysis, drafting, workflow efficiency, and sound decision‑making.
Ability to exercise strong professional judgment, including validating AI‑assisted work and ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and confidentiality standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and collaborate across teams.
Proven ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of attorneys, fostering high performance, engagement, and professional growth.
Oversee litigation strategy, case management, and legal outcomes to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Leverage approved AI tools and legal technology to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of legal work.
Apply critical judgment and oversight to AI‑assisted outputs, ensuring accuracy, ethical use, and adherence to professional standards.
Promote responsible adoption of technology and innovation while reinforcing accountability and human decision‑making.
Collaborate closely with internal partners to strengthen alignment, communication, and results.
Monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement in processes and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Demonstrated alignment with The Hartford Leader Profile, including leading with integrity, accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and a commitment to developing people and driving results.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
