The Hartford's EDS Global Specialty IT team is seeking a Senior Scrum master. We are looking for a talented professional with a track record of being a servant leader for Scrum teams.  Our ideal candidate will leverage deep Agile expertise and skills to deliver both invest and maintenance projects within the Data & Analytics Value stream.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT, Charlotte, NC or Columbus, OH) 3 days a week (Tuesday - Thursday). 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate all the Agile/SCRUM ceremonies - DSU's, Sprint planning, Sprint reviews, Retrospective/Sprint demos.
  • Partners with the Product Owner, IT Delivery Lead and Business leadership to form execution delivery plans and manage progress and facilitates release planning.
  • Organizes and facilitates ceremonies, identifies improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk.
  • Reports to Release Train Engineer and works closely with the RTE for overall delivery of Agile release train PI objectives.
  • Partners with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog items are prioritized based on business value and ready for the team
  • Tracks and communicates the overall team progress providing visibility to stakeholders.
  • Serves as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team.
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
  • Motivate the team to be disciplined and accountable for ensuring the Agile tools(Rally/JIRA) hygiene is maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage 2 - 3 Scrum Teams and run all scrum and PI planning events for the teams
  • 5+ years using Agile tools like Rally or Jira and monitoring key agile metrics at the team/ART level, and presenting to leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in working closely with Data & Analytics teams
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and environment management
  • Strong understanding of using AI tools like MS Copilot.
  • Encourages and guides the team in leveraging AI tools to improve development efficiency, backlog refinement and quality. 
  • Experience working with cross-functional/technical teams across Value Stream and ARTs
  • Exposure to development using Scaled Agile framework and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques
  • Experience in implementation cloud services (AWS or GCP)
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, FDD is a plus
  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge on Data assets including Snowflake, SQL Server, Tableau,  or similar data assets.
  • Degree in Computer Science preferred or related disciple with a minimum of 5+ plus years of work experience in IT development as a Scrum Master
  • Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$108,800 - $163,200
