Purpose: Recruit and assess a hands-on .NET engineer for the HIG India POD model, with emphasis on secure API/backend delivery, cloud readiness, AI-assisted engineering, ownership, and business-aligned execution.

Design principle: This is not a narrow coder role. The expectation is T-shaped/full-stack engineering capability, strong technical judgment, and the ability to operate in an accountable POD with US + India collaboration.

Location

Hyderabad, India

Employment type

Full-time

Experience level

0-2 years preferred; strong candidates with lower tenure may be considered if they demonstrate excellent fundamentals, learnability, and analytical problem solving.

Role family

Software Engineering - Application Development

Operating model

HIG India POD / Agile delivery team with strong collaboration across US and India

Core expectation

Strong .NET/C# engineering with SQL, API development, cloud awareness, automated testing, and willingness to learn Angular, Python, AWS, and enterprise patterns.

Position Overview

The Employee Benefits IT team is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join the HIG India POD model supporting digital, claims, and benefits capabilities. This role will work closely with US-based technology leads and business partners to deliver secure, scalable and production-ready services.

The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering fundamentals in .NET/C#, is comfortable working with APIs, data, automation and cloud services, and demonstrates ownership beyond assigned tasks. The role requires technical execution, practical leadership within a scrum team, and the judgment to connect engineering choices to claimant, employer, operations and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

·         Own design, development, unit/integration testing, implementation, and support for assigned components within enterprise Employee Benefits applications.

·         Design and maintain .NET Framework and .NET Core / .NET 8 services, APIs, backend components, and batch jobs.

·         Translate business and technical requirements into secure, maintainable application modules and APIs.

·         Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate coding, test generation, documentation, analysis, and refactoring while validating quality, security, and compliance.

·         Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, estimation, feature/story refinement, demos, retrospectives, and production readiness discussions.

·         Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, architects, QA/SDET, UX, platform, DevOps, and business partners to deliver outcomes, not just code.

·         Partner with Java/API, Angular/UI, and QA/SDET engineers when the same business capability spans BFF, domain APIs, UI, integrations, and batch platforms.

·         Perform peer code reviews and contribute to engineering standards for code quality, testing, security, accessibility, observability, and performance.

·         Troubleshoot production/non-production issues using logs, monitoring dashboards, traces, database analysis, and structured root-cause thinking.

·         Support modernization and reverse-engineering of legacy .NET assets, using analysis, tests, documentation, and AI-assisted tools to reduce SME dependency.

·         Document technical decisions, implementation notes, runbooks, operational impacts, and knowledge-transfer artifacts for the POD.

API and integration

RESTful APIs, JSON, service contracts, authentication/authorization concepts, API gateway integration awareness, experience API/BFF patterns.

Can design/consume APIs, validate payloads, handle failure modes, and communicate integration dependencies early.

Data and SQL
