We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and results-oriented product leader to join our Small Business State Product Management team. This role is responsible for our Commercial Auto, Business-Owners, and Workers Compensation products in an assigned geographic territory, with accountability for profit, growth, and long-term business performance.

The Associate Director partners closely with Sales, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, and other business leaders to develop and execute local market strategies that drive profitable growth. This individual continuously evaluates performance, market dynamics, competitive positioning, pricing, underwriting strategy, and customer needs to identify opportunities, manage risk, and deliver strong financial results.

Success in this role requires a unique blend of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, influence, and execution. The ideal candidate is comfortable making data-driven decisions, leading through change, and aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared vision for growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Own profit and growth performance for an assigned geographic territory, including accountability for revenue, underwriting profit, loss ratio, growth, and market share objectives.

  • Develop and execute local market strategies that drive sustainable, profitable growth while balancing short-term performance and long-term strategic objectives.

  • Partner with Sales, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, Compliance, and other key stakeholders to align business priorities and execute market strategies.

  • Monitor profitability, growth, competitor activity, customer trends, and market conditions to identify opportunities and risks.

  • Develop business cases and financial analyses to support pricing, underwriting, product, and distribution decisions.

  • Lead the development and implementation of product, pricing, and underwriting initiatives that improve business performance and competitiveness.

  • Communicate strategy, performance, and recommendations to leadership and key business partners.

  • Represent the company with agency partners, regulators, and industry stakeholders as appropriate.

  • Build alignment and lead change through influence, collaboration, and effective stakeholder management.

  • Identify and promote best practices that strengthen performance across the broader Product Management organization.

  • Mentor and support the development of less experienced team members and contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

  • Travel up to 10%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree concentration in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance product management, or professional P&C insurance industry experience evaluating product, pricing, research and/or underwriting.

  • Demonstrated experience driving business results through strategic decision-making and financial analysis.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging data to identify opportunities, evaluate performance, and influence business outcomes.

  • Ability to synthesize complex information and translate insights into actionable strategies.

  • Effective communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across organizational levels.

  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and align diverse stakeholders around a common objective.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term opportunities with immediate business needs.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with business partners, agency leaders, regulators, and senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring, coaching, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
