Senior Agile Product Owner
Role Overview
We are seeking an Agile Product Owner to support the delivery of high-impact digital experiences across our Employee Benefits platform. This role partners closely with the Product Manager, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams to translate strategic business and customer needs into actionable work items.
This is an execution-focused role responsible for managing team-level priorities, refining feature and user stories, and ensuring successful sprint delivery. It is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to deepen their product knowledge while contributing to meaningful customer-facing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Backlog Ownership & Agile Execution
- Own the overall health of the team backlog, ensuring features and stories are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for development
- Own the prioritization of all features and stories to ensure close alignment with digital outcomes and objectives
- Own the breakdown of the epics into features and document clearly and timely for refinement and PI planning
- Partner with process and business analysts to have clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria documented and aligned to features and priorities
- Lead and/or participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily execution support
- Partner with the team to clarify requirements and remove blockers
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the team's Agile processes
Product Delivery Support
- Collaborate with Agile Product Managers and senior Product Owners to execute against the product roadmap
- Ensure delivered features meet defined acceptance criteria and business expectations
- Assist in coordinating dependencies and aligning work across teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Alignment
- Work closely with engineering, UX, and business partners to ensure shared understanding of requirements
- Communicate effectively and confidently with stakeholders on progress, risks/challenges, and delivery outcomes
- Leverage customer feedback, analytics, and stakeholder input to inform backlog priorities
Qualifications:
Required
- 3+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or digital product delivery
- Strong experience in the Agile/Scrum environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to break down complex problems into clear, actionable work items
- Ability to manage stakeholders with high degree of professionalism
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- High degree of curiosity and intrinsic motivation
Preferred
- Experience supporting digital products or customer-facing platforms
- Familiarity with backlog management tools (e.g Jira, Rally)
- Basic understanding of analytics and customer experience principles
- Interest in building a career in Product Management
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
