Job Summary:
The IT Engineer, Recovery Readiness & Validation Engineering, is responsible for maintaining organizational resilience by ensuring processes meet architectural and industry standards. Main duties include leading disaster recovery and cybersecurity efforts, running preparedness exercises, managing application analysis and service tiering, and driving automation initiatives. The role also oversees the BCM platform, recovery sequencing, and CMDB alignment. Working closely with Technology, Operational Risk, Cybersecurity, and Business Units, the engineer translates risk findings into strategies that enhance The Hartford’s resiliency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of disaster recovery and cybersecurity initiatives to ensure organizational resilience.
Conduct preparedness exercises and manage application analysis, including service tiering and recovery sequencing.
Drive automation efforts to streamline recovery and validation processes.
Oversee the Business Continuity Management (BCM) platform and ensure alignment with the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
Collaborate with Technology, Operational Risk, Cybersecurity, and Business Units to translate risk assessments into actionable resiliency strategies.
Maintain compliance with architectural, industry, and enterprise standards for recovery readiness.
Support the maintenance of recovery documentation and evidence required for audits and regulatory reviews.
Identify and remediate resiliency gaps through analysis of recovery and cyber validation outcomes.
Provide guidance and support to business partners on resiliency standards, expectations, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in business resiliency, risk management, IT operations, DR/BCP, cyber, or related fields.
Experience with understanding business processes, DR/CR testing, continuity planning, or resiliency frameworks.
Experience with Generative AI (Gen AI) and Agentic AI.
Familiarity with cloud resiliency concepts and recovery classifications (e.g., Gold/Silver tiers from enterprise standards).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and governance platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, myTechExpress).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Clear, professional communication (written & verbal).
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
