Through our network of strategic partnerships with Third Party Administrators (TPAs) we reach millions of consumers through targeted campaigns promoting the benefits of The Hartford’s Employee Benefits product suite. These products include Life and Disability insurance as well as products which help protect families such as Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Hospital Indemnity and TRICARE.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Consultant role is responsible for reviewing all solicitation material created by our TPAs and internal partners, ensuring they are compliant and competitive based on The Hartford’s guidelines. The Consultant role includes maintaining an electronic filing system for audits and market conduct exams. The Consultant will also work in collaboration with the Marketing Manager on strategic initiatives, working in a consultative role with internal and external business partners.  Act as a liaison for the Marketing team on new business opportunities as well as the impact of business to existing business.

Work Arrangements: This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in our Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

This role does not have direct reports and will be part of the larger Employee Benefits Marketing team.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Association Marketing Review: Working in collaboration with Third Party Administrators (TPA’s) and The Hartford’s compliance and legal team, this role completes extensive marketing reviews including but not limited to – direct mail, websites, magazine advertising, text messages, and digital/social assets. This detailed work requires comparing submitted materials to The Hartford’s guidelines to identify and mitigate discrepancies. Requires an understanding of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) guidelines and state regulations relative to advertising insurance products as well as The Hartford’s policies.

  • Compliance Liaison: Act as a collaborative liaison between our compliance and legal, underwriting, and account management teams to pro-actively strengthen materials while ensuring guidelines are met. 

  • Strategic Initiatives:  Consult on various strategic initiatives to bring an Association/Affinity lens to discussions.  May include leading initiatives with cross-functional teams.

  • Support State Product Filings: Create and prepare the necessary marketing documentation to assist Product Delivery with state advertising filing requests.

  • Suggest Process Improvements: Consistently look for ways to improve our processes and actively participate in operational efficiencies.

  • Support Training Internally and Externally: Through regularly scheduled meetings with stakeholders, share best practices and actively provide realistic and creative solutions.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in marketing or compliance within the financial services industry, preferred (highly regulated environment). College degree with equivalent work experience in Marketing, Compliance or related field a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and superior project management skills – ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under deadline.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite. Intermediate level skill with Word and Excel.

  • Proven strong written and verbal skills.  

  • Ability to negotiate and influence while acting as a liaison.

  • A self-starter who takes initiative to identify needs and develop actionable solutions and suggestions. Ability to operate with limited supervision and direction.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$83,600 - $125,400
