The DAIO Strategy & Innovation Intern will report directly to the Vice President of DAIO Strategy and Innovation and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of Data, Analytics, AI, and Operations (DAIO) at the enterprise level.
In this role, you’ll gain hands‑on exposure to real‑world strategy and innovation work—supporting the team’s strategic roadmap, workforce strategy, priorities, KPIs, and long‑term vision. You’ll help bring strategy to life by contributing to how goals are defined, measured, communicated, and executed across the organization.
You’ll also support day‑to‑day operational and process‑improvement efforts, working alongside senior leaders to help improve how the DAIO organization operates and scales. This includes assisting with strategic deliverables, driving execution on key initiatives, and helping translate big ideas into action.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and applied AI, with exposure to research, experimentation, and enterprise transformation. You’ll collaborate closely with DAIO Strategy & Innovation leadership and gain insight into how emerging technologies and analytics shape business decisions at scale.
Work Arrangement
This role offers a hybrid or remote work arrangement:
- Interns located near one of our offices (Hartford, CT; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH) are expected to work in the office Tuesday–Thursday.
- Interns not located near an office will work remotely, with occasional in‑office travel as business needs arise.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and assist the deliver of strategic initiatives across DAIO Strategy and Innovation.
- Partner with DAIO senior leadership to assist in execution of DAIO strategy, goals, objectives, and priorities aligned to enterprise strategy.
- Partner with DAIO Senior Leadership Team to ensure consistent, high‑quality messaging across executive deliverables.
- Partner to conduct research on emerging technology, trends, tools and best practices.
- Contribute to internal presentations, reports and strategy documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and feedback.
- Assist in conducting market, competitor, and industry analyses to inform strategic priorities and executive decision‑making.
- Synthesize external insights with internal performance data to shape strategic recommendations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, helping navigate ambiguity and drive clarity.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Business Management, Finance or other related fields
- Strong interest in corporate strategy or management consulting
- Familiarity and interest in artificial intelligence, innovation and strategy
- Familiarity with AI tools
- Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to demonstrate and complete high quality deliverables
- Experience with research, consulting or strategy projects
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
