Senior Analyst Business Resiliency

This position is part of Operational Risk within ERM, supporting the Business Resiliency team in advancing the company’s enterprise resilience strategy. The team oversees business continuity, cyber and technology resilience, vendor resilience, and crisis management. In this role, you will lead and execute key components of the enterprise resilience program, including business impact assessments, business continuity planning, cyber and technology resilience activities, and resilience exercises, while partnering with the business and technology leaders to strengthen preparedness and response capabilities.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of Business Impact Assessments (BIAs) and Business continuity plans, including identification of critical services, recovery objectives, dependency mapping, and alignment to cyber and technology recovery strategies
  • Partner with Technology, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure teams to evaluate, challenge, and enhance cyber and technology resilience capabilities, including recovery strategies, testing approaches, and alignment to business priorities
  • Design, facilitate, and continuously improve resilience exercises, including executive‑level cyber simulations, crisis management exercises, and business continuity table‑tops; synthesize outcomes into actionable improvements
  • Develop and improve risk dashboards and reporting by analyzing resilience data, exercise outcomes, and risk indicators to identify trends, gaps, and emerging risks, delivering insights that support leadership decision‑making.
  • Drive the development of executiveready presentations that translate resilience and risk insights into clear, concise messaging for leadership
  • Support resiliency risk assessments including evaluating third‑party partners for compliance with organizational requirements and recommending mitigations to minimize resilience risk
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and process enhancements including researching industry trends, benchmarking best practices, and exploring the use of AI and emerging technologies to optimize resilience planning

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in operational resilience, business continuity, risk management, technology risk, or related disciplines or 8-10+ years in enterprise environments, risks management, audit or similar roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to evaluate complex, ambiguous situations, assess trade‑offs, and develop practical, risk‑informed recommendations that balance resilience, business needs, and enterprise priorities
  • Proven ability to independently own and drive work end‑to‑end with minimal oversight, including defining problems, executing deliverables, proactively identifying issues, and following through to resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than hierarchy, serving as a trusted advisor who can challenge assumptions, guide discussions, and shape outcomes across business, technology, and risk partners.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build credibility, foster strong cross‑functional partnerships, and navigate differing perspectives to drive alignment and forward progress in a matrixed enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience applying business continuity, crisis management, technology, or cyber resilience frameworks in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex or technical topics into clear, executive‑ready messaging and present confidently to senior audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and time management, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; experience with BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of business continuity, crisis management, and recovery frameworks (ISO 22301, NIST Cybersecurity Framework)
  • Familiarity with incident response, business resiliency or disaster recovery planning
  • Experience working with senior executives and presenting complex information in a clear, compelling manner

Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$100,800 - $151,200
