This role reports directly to the Head of Absence & ensures consistent execution, reduces delivery risk, and supports on-time, high-quality outcomes so the team can remain focused on strategy and customer needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project execution for Absence initiatives, including planning, sequencing, and delivery governance.

  • Build and maintain integrated schedules, dependency maps, RAID logs, and status reporting.

  • Facilitate cross-functional decision-making; proactively surface risks and recommend mitigation paths.

  • Partner with Product, Claims, IT, and Transformation stakeholders to align scope, timelines, and delivery ownership.

  • Drive delivery cadence (standups/working sessions/checkpoints) and ensure action/decision follow-through.

  • Support implementation readiness (communications, training, documentation, operational handoffs).

  • Use data and insights to improve execution quality, predictability, and stakeholder experience.

Qualifications:

  • Project management experience leading complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed environment.

  • 3 years’ experience with Absence Management product development, implementation and/or claims.

  • Strong written/verbal communication and the ability to translate complex work into clear business requirements, status, risks, and decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables with accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting regulated products, operations, claims, benefits, or related environments.

  • Familiarity working with Agile delivery teams and technology/Transformation partners.

  • Experience with enterprise delivery tools (plans, RAID, status reporting, dashboards).

  • Role supports critical Absence initiatives and is intended to ensure consistent execution quality and timeline delivery.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).  Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. 

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$110,400 - $165,600
