 The Hartford is seeking a highly motivated Scrum Master for highly visible projects in Employee Benefits. This is a technical position that requires industry/domain experience. 

The right candidate is passionate about Agile, Scaled Agile, AWS and the services they provide. 

  • Coaches and ensures Scrum Teams adhere to Scrum principles and best practices
  • Helps everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team.
  • Understands product planning in an inspect and adapt environment, and ensures the Product Owners knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
  • Provides information regarding team health: people, process, progress and overall satisfaction to Technology and Business Leaders. Coaches the team members to practice effective Scrum
  • Removes impediments for the team and escalate appropriately Insulates Scrum Team from distractions or disruption Coaches the Product Owner, Development Team, Technology and Business Leaders on Scrum values, principles and best practices Partners with the Product Owner, IT Delivery Lead and Business leadership to form execution delivery plans and manage progress
  • Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization Facilitates Release Planning

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Qualifications:

  • 2 - 3 years of work experience in IT development as a Scrum Master
  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
  • Degree in Computer Science or related disciple
  • Exposure to development using Scaled Agile framework Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Background in software development. (like Java, .net and web frontend technologies)
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and environment management
  • Strong understanding of using Gen AI tools like Microsoft Copilot.
  • Experience working with cross-functional/technical teams across Value Stream and ARTs
  • Proven ability to manage Scrum Teams and run all scrum and PI planning events for a team
  • Proficient in using Agile tools like Rally and monitoring key agile metrics at the team/ART level
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD is a plus
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques
  • Experience in implementation cloud services, preferably AWS.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$92,000 - $138,000
