The Hartford’s Premium Audit organization is seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to drive the design and implementation of complex, service‑oriented architectures in a cloud environment. This role partners closely with architects, engineers, and cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, cloud‑native solutions aligned with The Hartford’s architectural standards and technology roadmap. Candidates should bring demonstrated expertise in translating architectural vision into high‑quality, enterprise‑grade software, with a strong focus on security, resiliency, performance optimization, and modern cloud engineering practices.
This hands‑on technical leadership position will guide the implementation of interconnected services across the Premium Audit Common UI and Service Layer, Customer Interaction Services, and Integration Platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep engineering acumen and practical experience with front‑end technologies, AWS services, Oracle database technologies, API Gateway, microservices, and event‑driven architectures. Strong collaboration, leadership, and problem‑solving skills are essential for success in this role.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT and Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of the architecture provided, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards while embedding GenAI capabilities.
- Develop and maintain microservices and API integrations using AWS technologies.
- Perform code reviews for full stack application development to ensure high-quality standards, improve code quality, and maintain strong test coverage.
- Lead the design and development of modern, user‑centric UI components and interfaces, ensuring adherence to front‑end best practices, accessibility standards, and performance optimization.
- Enforce robust front‑end security practices, including secure coding standards, protection against common vulnerabilities (such as XSS, CSRF, and injection attacks), and alignment with enterprise security guidelines.
- Oversee data flow orchestration across multiple layers including-Premium Audit Common Service Layer, Customer Interaction Services and Integration Platforms
- Ensure compliance with security, scalability, and performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement and ideation, introducing creative solutions that challenge traditional approaches and deliver measurable business impact.
- Mentor team members and promote best practices in DevSecOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native development.
- Coordinate implementation efforts with engineering and product teams across multiple time zones, aligning priorities and ensuring high‑quality, timely delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years in technical leadership role delivering cloud-native, event-driven systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design, implementation, code quality, and delivery across distributed services in a hybrid environment.
- Strong experience designing scalable, secure, and observable software applications; adept at trade-off decisions and documentation.
- Ability to mentor engineers and align delivery with business outcomes.

- Ability to leverage AI tools and Copilot to improve productivity in day-to-day tasks, including development, debugging, documentation, and automation workflows.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to influence leadership and collaborate across teams.
- Awareness of full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including source code management, code quality, and testing practices.
- Demonstrated independence, self-motivation, good judgment, and active listening skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with API development, Angular, and AWS resources such as Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, and Service Catalog.
- Strong technical knowledge of AWS application development and data integration strategies.
- Practical experience in creating Angular components for front-end development.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly Oracle.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
